Hi there. Welcome to Team Mixed Veggies — the only endurance duo fueled by legumes, leafy greens, and a disturbing number of bananas.
We’re a husband-and-wife team with a mutual love for:
- Type II fun (you know, the kind that hurts now but makes for great stories later), and
- Endurance sports like triathlons, ultramarathons, and chasing our kids around the house until one of us pulls a hamstring.
So what is Team Mixed Veggies?
Team Mixed Veggies are a couple of peas and carrots named Ted and Andrea — sautéed in sarcasm, seasoned with sweat, and constantly simmering in long race prep. We marinate daily in training for things like triathlons and ultramarathons, and our performance fuel of choice? 100% plant-based goodness.
Our idea of a balanced diet? A burrito in each hand and a side of electrolytes.
We’re the result of two plant-fueled humans deciding to take their obsession with movement, mung beans, and mild suffering to the internet. And maybe, just maybe, encourage a few folks to eat more plants, run more miles, and take themselves a little less seriously.
This site is our little veggie patch on the web, where we share tips, training updates, recipes, hilarious fails, and thoughts on what it means to thrive on plants (without becoming a kale preacher at dinner parties).
We believe going plant-powered doesn’t have to mean giving up joy, performance, or delicious food — it just means your fridge has a better fiber-to-bacon ratio.
What makes us different?
We’re not influencers. We’re not doctors. We’re just two very real people who once bonked in the middle of a long ride because we thought spirulina bars were a good idea. (They were not.)
We care about:
- Training smart (and sometimes very dumb)
- Eating plants (preferably in burrito form)
- Raising happy little humans
- Laughing at ourselves
- Living long and well enough to still outrun our future grandkids
So poke around. Check out our stuff. Try a recipe. Join a run. And if you take nothing else away from Team Mixed Veggies, remember this:
Plants have feelings too. Mostly smugness.
P.S. We’re workshopping a new tagline. Current options include:
- “Fueled by fiber, bonded by blisters.”
- “Will run for hummus.”
- “Powered by plants. United by chafing.”
Thoughts? Or got one of your own? Drop us a line. 🌾
